Novena Prayer to St. Francis de Sales (January 15th to 23rd)

124-st-francis-de-sales-eglise-d-hannevilleI have to pray a novena to the patron saint of this blog St. Francis de Sales.

I have been reading Introduction to the Devout Life just for his feast as well. I know I am a day late in posting this novena, but he understands that I am a writer, not a math whiz (got the dates wrong – thank you @annie3592 for clarifying for me in a pinch!) With that, let us pray, with special intentions – which you can leave in the comments if you like):

O Blessed Francis de Sales,
who in your mortal life excelled in all virtues,
especially in love of God and of neighbor,ย I earnestly entreat you to take me under your immediate protection,ย to obtain from God my perfect conversion,ย and that of all sinners.

Teach me, O Father,
to fix my eyes on heaven,
that I may generously trample under foot
every obstacle that presents itself in my way,
and attain that degree of glory
which You in Your mercy hold out to me.
Obtain also that particular favor for which I now pray.

(pause, mention intention)

Assist us, O Lord, we beseech You,
through the merits of St. Francis de Sales.
That what our endeavors cannot obtain may be given us by his intercession.

Let us pray:

O God, who for the salvation of souls,
did will that St. Francis de Sales,
Your confessor and bishop,
should become all things to all men and women,
mercifully grant that we,
infused with the gentleness of his charity,
guided by his teachings,
and sharing in his merits,
may obtain eternal happiness.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

  1. Please pray for us to obtain a safe, permanent home. My fear and anxiety of being homeless is destroying my faith and making me hate people.

St Francis de Sales, I need your help to afford me the grace of seeing the good in all people, so that I can love them as God commands. Please pray for us. God bless you. Thank you.
